As a CRC Foundation Scholarship winner, Deanna Clemmer, began her college career in the fall of 2014 at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. In college, Deanna made lifelong friends, fell in love and discovered her passion for science. Maintaining good academic standings, the CRC Foundation awarded Deanna a scholarship each semester until graduation for a total of over $40k towards her tuition.
In May 2018, Deanna achieved her goal and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Her passion in the sciences has led her to where she is now. Deanna is currently working as a senior research support specialist SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse New York. While at SUNY, Deanna has worked on various projects including HIV research. As of April 2020, Deanna and her lab have been working on the CoVID virus.
Many years later after first being awarded the scholarship, a special opportunity was presented. Both the Foundation founder, Calais Campbell, and CRC Scholar, Deanna Clemmer both appeared on the Kelly Clarkson show in March 2020. This was an uplifting moment and a special reunion. Deanna shared her experience at High Point University and expressed the impact receiving a CRC Foundation Scholarship had on her life.
